EXPANDED PARKING FOR CVS/KATZ
Trees are being cut down and cleared out of the area behind CVS on Main Street to make room for a new parking lot. The new space will give patrons and employees of CVS and Katz Hardware more room to park.
NEW PRODUCT LINES AT KATZ
With the expansion of the paint department at Katz Hardware on Main Street, the store is now offering new product lines. The new products include home décor from Dash & Albert Rug Company, Mud Pie pillows, some offerings from local farms including jams from Rose’s Berry Farm and honey from Belltown Orchards, and a line of GHS graduate gifts and signs.
HELP RAISE MONEY FOR BOY WITH CANCER
M.E.L.T Fitness Studio on Oakwood Drive is hosting a fundraiser to help a little boy with cancer live an active life. 6-year old Kyle Ashley was diagnosed with bone cancer last November. Since then, his leg was amputated and he is currently going through chemotherapy. Kyle will need a special prosthetic leg that will allow him to play sports and stay active. He will need to get a new leg each time he grows! The M.e.l.t.-A-THON Against Cancer fundraiser will take place June 9th from 8:00-10:00 AM at Riverfront. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to the Ashley family to help pay for the prosthetic leg. To participate, go to http://www.meltathon.org.
CONTRUCTION CAUSING CONFUSION
It seems the construction on Hebron Avenue is making some customers think Derr Plaza is closed, but it is NOT. All businesses there are OPEN! The entrance to the plaza, with businesses such as Pinwheels, Glazed, Ken’s Corner, and Glastonbury Barre and Yoga is blocked off. Customers can gain access to parking from Rankin Road behind the buildings.

NEW RESTAURANT ON THE CONNECTICUT RIVER
A new restaurant recently opened a stone’s throw away from Glastonbury across the river in Wethersfield. The aptly named, River, is located in the back of the office building at Putnam Park. You can see the building off to the right as you drive over the Putnam Bridge. There is a large, double-tiered deck with a waterfront view. Their menu sways Italian and offers everything from pizza and pasta to steaks and entrees, such as chicken and swordfish.
