HERE’S THE SCOOP…
The Town Plan & Zoning Commission unanimously PASSED a proposal to bring a farm brewery to South Glastonbury. By a vote of 6-0, the commission praised the plan presented by Al Gondek Jr. and his partner/brewer, Phil Lohr.
Hops on the Hill Farm Market and Brewery will be located off Dug Road on Gondek’s 42-acre property where he and his family have farmed land for nearly 70 years. He recently added hops to his farmland and will soon open the brewery in one of his old tobacco barns.
The barn will be renovated, but will maintain the old tobacco barn appearance from both the inside and outside. The Farm Market will offer fresh products from local farms. The brewery will include tastings of several different kinds of beer.
Renovations will begin this Summer and the farm market and brewery is expected to open in the Spring of 2019. Their hours will be Tuesday through Friday 4:00-8:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday 1:00-6:00 PM.
