SNEAK PEEK AT SQUARE PEG PIZZA
OK people...we are getting close to an open date for Square Peg Pizza...we swear! Owner, Dante Cistulli (formely a managing partner at Savoy Pizzeria in West Hartford), told us they will be open in October. Dante and his partners, Tyler Anderson and Bruce Kalman (former Top Chef contestants), are calling this new restaurant a 'red sauce joint'. That means their food items will have red sauce (duh): pizza, chicken parm, pasta (made in house), and some gluten-free options. We like all of it. FUN FACT: The name Square Peg is a tribute to these partners who consider themselves misfits...standouts from the rest...'square pegs in a round hole', if you will. THE EDGE FITNESS SETTLES LAWSUIT, TARGETS OPENING DATE
Construction started months ago on The Edge Fitness behind Chili's, but a dispute over the property was lingering. Our sources say the parties have reached an agreement and an appeal over the town's decision to allow the project has been withdrawn. We are excited to finally be able to give you a target opening date of September 2020 with membership sales starting in June!
JERSEY MIKE'S RAISING MONEY FOR BOSTON MARATHON BOMBING VICTIM MEMORIAL
For the entire month of October, our local Jersey Mike's will participate in a regional fundraising effort that will go toward building a playground in memory of Krystle Campbell. Campbell was killed in the Boston Marathon Bombings in 2013. Customers will get a FREE sub when they donate $5 toward the Where Angels Play Foundation. This amazing organization builds playgrounds that represent the personality of those lost and provide a place for families to enjoy. An example of one of the playgrounds, shown below, was built in honor of James Mattioli, one of the little boys killed at Sandy Hook.
