MISSION BBQ ADDED TO SHOPS ON MAIN…NEW LIFE FOR OLD EMPIRE SPACE

HERE’S THE SCOOP…

BBQ RESTAURANT ADDED TO SHOPS ON MAIN

Mission BBQ is the 4th restaurant added to The Shops on Main next to McDonald’s. This will be the second Mission BBQ location in Connecticut. There was recently a grand opening for one in Southington. The BBQ chain has an interesting story. It was started ten years after 9/11 by two friends focused on giving back to those who serve our country. Every day at Noon, guests and employees stand for the National Anthem. Each restaurant is deeply committed to supporting local police, fire, and military charities. Their “mission” is to remind people that the nation’s heroes are what make America great! Take a look at a map of the location below.

NEW LIFE FOR OLD EMPIRE SPACE

The old Empire Wine & Liquor Superstore near Stop & Shop and J. Gilbert’s on Glastonbury Boulevard is undergoing major renovations to become Phenix Salon Suites. The chain of salon suites opened in 2007 and has grown to 200 locations across the country. The Glastonbury location will have 38 individual spaces that allow salon professionals to individualize their business and operate independently. The Founder of the chain, Gina Rivera, was featured on Undercover Boss. Each location is independently owned and operated under the Phenix brand. Below are some examples of the inside of other Phenix locations.

NEW DEVELOPMENT ACROSS FROM LUXURY APARTMENTS

A selection of buildings at the corner of Sycamore Street and Hebron Avenue across from the new luxury apartment complex, One Glastonbury Place, will soon be leveled and the land developed into office and retail space. The real estate listing says it would be ideal for restaurants, apparel or home furnishing stores, or a fitness center. The 20,000 square foot building is expected to be built in 2019. The map below highlights the location with a yellow star.

STOP & SHOP TEMPORARILY CLOSING

Stop & Shop on Oak Street will close down this Thursday, July 12th, for a few weeks to complete renovations of the store. They have made several changes already. A full-size Starbucks has been added. There is a new area for self-checkout. They have also rearranged the Health & Beauty section and added new flooring. The store will be closed from July 12th to August 1st to complete the overhaul. It’s expected to look completely different when it reopens.
