THE SALAD BAR OPENING 2ND LOCATION IN GLASTONBURY
The Salad Bar out of Rocky Hill is opening next to Subway in the Bertucci's plaza. Their Rocky Hill shop has been open since 2017 and is very popular...obviously. Who doesn't love when someone else makes them a salad? They offer salads and wraps, soups, shakes and smoothies, along with sides and kids meals. A win-win for Glastonbury moms! RIVER CRUISE FUN ACTIVITY FOR FAMILIES
Slipaway River Tours is bringing people back to the river with daily cruises out of Wethersfield and Hartford (maybe Glastonbury soon too!). Bill Keyt and his daughters, Morgen, Taylor, and Mary are giving tours of and some unique historical facts about the Connecticut River and Hartford. The hour-long excursion currently leaves from Wethersfield Cove and Charter Oak Landing Thursday through Saturday and offers a fun activity for families. They also do charters, which can be booked for birthday parties, family gatherings, work outings, or a night out with friends. They are currently working to get approval for pickup at The Boathouse in Glastonbury (we hope this goes through!) Find them HERE for ticket info or to book a charter!
GRACEFUL ACRES NOW OPEN
Tucked away off Coldbrook Road in South Glastonbury is the tiniest, most beautiful little fresh flower farm stand called Graceful Acres. We mentioned them last summer as they were getting up and running, but they are now officially OPEN and a must-visit before the season ends. They have gorgeous bouquets of farm-fresh flowers. They operate on the honor system, so pick out your fave and drop the cash in the tea kettle (love that!) to instantly brighten your day! P.S. They also offer a fresh farm flower CSA. ART STUDIO TO OPEN ON MAIN STREET MANCHESTER
Is anyone else cheering as hard as we are for downtown Manchester? There are SO many good things happening there! A new art studio & cafe will open this fall called The Firestone. It's the sister location to The Claypen in West Hartford. The name, The Firestone, is a tribute to the owner of Pinewood Furniture, Ed Firestone, where the new studio will be located. Ed was a business owner on Main Street for more than 20 years, but is retiring. Pinewood is currently having a liquidation sale. The Firestone will have some pretty cool offerings including pottery painting, glass fusing, canvas painting, board art, and a Wet Clay room to open in 2020. They will also be working with other local businesses to offer some food and drink. They are: Giv Coffee Roasters, Canton; Hosmer Mountain Soda, Manchester; Shady Glen Ice Cream, Manchester; Cato Corner Cheese, Colchester.

*COMING SOON: We recently spoke with one of the owners of the new Square Peg Pizza in the old Piatti space on Hebron Avenue and he says things were at a stand still for awhile (isn't every renovation project at some point or another?), but they are now progressing quickly. They are on track for an END OF AUGUST opening (for real). Stick with us for a sneak peek of the inside just before it opens.
*1000 Degrees Pizza Salad Wings is raising money for Carry My Brother through the month of August. Every dollar donated...100%...will go toward the non-profit, which helps provide an opportunity for kids in need to play sports. The month will conclude August 29th with a pizza and beer fundraising event from 5:00 to 10:00 PM. Stop in and show your support for this amazing cause!
