THE SCOOP took a short vacation this past week, so we are recapping our top weekly BUSINESS SCOOP from the time we started in March.
#1: FARM BREWERY COMING TO SOUTH GLASTONBURY
This was our most popular story to date. It reached more than 12,000 people and was shared 102 times on Facebook. What can we say…people love beer! Hops on the Hill Farm Market and Brewery off Dug Road in South Glastonbury is expected to open in the Spring of 2019. Al Gondek is renovating an old tobacco barn on his property that his family has farmed for seven decades. Follow us to see their progress!
#2: OPENING OF THE BEAMHOUSE AT THE TANNERY
The long-awaited, new restaurant, from the owners of Sayulita, 2 Hopewell, and Birch Hill Tavern…The Beamhouse opened last week at The Tannery on New London Turnpike. The story reached more than 7,000 people and was shared 29 times on Facebook and Instagram. Check out the inside of the restaurant and their New American Fare menu below and tell them we sent you.
#3: WANG PALACE LEAVING TOWN
This story evoked the most emotional response from our readers. Wang Palace has been in town for 25 years, but will soon move to Rocky Hill. The plaza where they are located on Main Street in Glastonbury is being sold. Their loyal followers posted a SCOOP record of nearly 100 comments across social media in just a couple of days.
#4: FEATURED SCOOP: ONE BIG HAPPY PHOTO
The Scoop’s first FEATURE with One Big Happy Photo received praise from the nearly 5,000 people it reached online. Amber Sehrt is a newborn photographer in town who has a gifted connection with newborns. Check out her video below or in THE FEATURED SCOOP section of our website.
#5: THE FRESH MONKEE EXPANDS
The Fresh Monkee’s expansion into Southington and Manchester was exciting news for their fans. The shake shop will open their 4th location this September on Queen Street in Southington near Nardelli’s and Fancy Bagels. The 5th shop will be located in Manchester’s The Plaza at Buckland Hills next to Beach House Tanning. After renovations, they expect to open there in October.
