CAVANNA TREE FARM TO OFFER MAGICAL EXPERIENCE
South Glastonbury farmer, John Cavanna has purchased a railroad locomotive, is building full size train tracks, and will offer families and children a ride through his farm property to the ‘North Pole’. Patrons will be able to come to the farm for their Christmas tree, purchase a ticket to ride the railroad and visit the North Pole where Santa will greet children in a log cabin. Cavanna bought the 1936 Plymouth from Ohio and has named it the Gray Granite Railroad. The farm sits on gray granite, which is actually being used to build the tracks. Cavanna is passionate about trains and it shows. He has his engineer’s license, knows every detail of the building process, and even looks the part. This new attraction for families is expected to be ready by Christmas of 2019. Check out the train and the route through the farm below!
THE RIVER RESTAURANT LOOKING TO ADD MARINA
Over the bridge in Wethersfield is a new restaurant called The River. We did a story about them a few weeks ago. The restaurant is located on the lower level of the CBS building in Putnam Park on the CT River. Now, they are going through the steps to add a marina to their waterfront restaurant. They recently had a company out to do a hydrographic survey, which is a measurement of how the area is impacted by marine construction. We will keep you posted on this development!
REAL ESTATE FIRM EXPANDS TO MARLBOROUGH
Glastonbury-based, Regions Commercial recently opened a new office, Regions Residential, on Main Street in Marlborough. They are also renovating their space in town on Glastonbury Boulevard. The new space, designed by Jennifer Gaggion of Design Your Monday, is inviting and bright. The Marlborough location will focus on residential real estate. Regions has been in business for more than 15 years and is excited to expand their services. Take a look at their new location below.

OPENING DATE FOR JERSEY MIKE’S
Jersey Mike’s Subs will open in just a few weeks. The sandwich shop, in The Shops on Main, next to McDonald’s is expected to open June 20th. They are currently in the hiring process. The restaurant chain originated at the New Jersey shore in 1956. They now have more than 1,500 locations across the country.
HEBRON AVENUE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
The first of phase of the Hebron Avenue construction project is complete. The area between New London Turnpike and Main Street has been reopened. The next phase is the rotary near House Street. There are detours in place. All businesses remain open during construction.
