HERE’S THE SCOOP…
NEW ART GALLERY IN SOUTH GLASTONBURY
Tucked away behind the new frame shop in South Glastonbury is a beautiful new art gallery. JW Frame Crafters recently took over the space of the former framer next to Carrie Draghi Photography on Main Street. In the back of the shop, owner Joel Kurlan created a gorgeous gallery with artwork from a few talented, local artists. The work of Lynn Damon, Rob Skinnon, Don Brone, and Clinton Deckert are all on display. This is the second location for the framing business, which was started by Joel’s mom in Plainville. He has been honing his craft since he was 8 years old. His mom propped him on a milk crate and had him cut mats for her when she owned the business. He has been doing it ever since. His custom, hand-cut frames are quite beautiful. Check out his website HERE and click on the video to hear Joel’s personal story. We loved it and you will too!
BREWERY OPENS IN COLCHESTER
Hop Culture Farms & Brewing Co. opened this past weekend in Colchester. The farm brewery on Cato Corner Road is run by a husband and wife team who grow their own hops on the farm. They have an assortment of farms brews with fun names like Juicy in the 8-6-0, Hop of Shame, and Goats + Hoes. Check out some pics below or visit them to taste for yourself.
POOL CLUB OFFERING GREAT DEAL
Minnechaug Swim & Tennis Club is offering memberships for $800 to new families for their first year. That’s just $57 a week and $8 a day for the summer. Think about it…something to do EVERY. SINGLE. Only club with lighted, Har-Tru tennis courts. 3. Swim and tennis lessons included with cost (fo.r real!). 4. Playscape/basketball court/fire pit and a social schedule that will keep you busy all summer long. For more information, click HERE and tell them we sent you.
JEFFERSON RADIOLOGY OFFERS 3D IMAGING
This is so near and dear to us that we had to share. Jefferson Radiology is now offering 3D imaging. That doesn’t sound too exciting, until you see the difference between 2D and 3D and how it is impacting patients. The detail of 3D is unreal and greatly reduces the potential for additional exams. Think about this…when women go for a mammogram and get called back, it’s terrifying. These machines allow radiologists to see a clearer, more detailed image and give patients better care…a total win-win. They are currently switching out every single machine to 3D and will have them all up and running by July. Look at the rose test below to see the difference.
