POPULAR BUSINESSES TO RELOCATE…SOW’S EAR GIFT IDEAS

HERE’S THE SCOOP…

POPULAR BUSINESSES HAVE TO RELOCATE

For some time, we have been hearing that the businesses at 2333 Main Street will need to find new space. A sub-lease agreement has ended and the owner has told the business owners that he will not renew. Two businesses have already moved out of the building to new locations. Glastonbury Dance Center and Teach Art 2 Me have relocated to the East Hartford/Glastonbury line. We know of a 3rd business that is also moving and one that is starting to search for new space. Wang Palace, Bollywood, Liquid Nirvana, and Whole Tone Guitars are the remaining businesses. Sources have said the owners are trying to sell the property. We will keep you posted as we learn new information.

NEAT GIFT IDEAS AT THE SOW’S EAR

If you haven’t been to The Sow’s Ear, you should go! They have unique gift ideas, including one-of-a-kind cutting boards from The Burnt Shop. They are etched with different trees, leaves, and other drawings, but perhaps the most special one is called The Glastonbury Tree. That’s because the artist rendered it after a tree that is located at the bottom of Matson Hill Road. Pretty cool, right? The Sow’s Ear is located at 2400 Main Street. It’s in the back of the yellow house on the corner of Hebron Avenue down the stairs. www.sowsearct.com www.theburntshop.com.

LARGE TURNOUT FOR HEARING ABOUT THE REMOVAL OF ROUTE 17 RAMP

The DOT held a public hearing to discuss their plan to remove the left hand ramp from Route 17 Southbound to New London Turnpike. The bridge that travels over the ramp is structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. The DOT said they have come up with a plan to remove the bridge and reconfigure the ramps to make traffic flow better and faster. The preliminary plan is to shut down the left hand exit for good and add a left turn lane to the right hand exit to Glastonbury Center. The DOT listened to residents and business owners and will take their concerns into consideration when finalizing the project. Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2019.

Does everyone get as excited about strawberry season as we do?! This week, Cavanna’s and Rose’s Berry Farm announced that they have commenced strawberry picking. We tasted the strawberries and they are so sweet and delicious! Head to Cavanna’s on Woodland Street or Rose’s on Hebron Avenue. Happy Picking!
