HERE'S THE SCOOP...

*If you have something you are curious about in town, email thescoopglastonbury@gmail.com

BROOKSIDE MARKET TO OPEN THIS WEEKEND

The new market in South Glastonbury will open this coming Sunday. Brookside Market, located in the old Gardiner's Market, has been fully renovated and will have some new offerings when they open their doors July 26th. We hope to have a sneak peak for you this week, so stay tuned!

THE SALAD BAR UPDATE

The Salad Bar sign is up in the Bertucci's plaza. Owner Marc Vojick says there have been delays in getting equipment due to COVID, but he is hoping to open this August. He also has a location in Rocky Hill that is quite popular. They offer make-your-own or signature salads, soups, wraps, and shakes. Check out their website for menu details.

NEW SOAP COMPANY DONATES SALES TO HELP KEEP OCEANS CLEAN

Two 15-year old entrepreneurs recently started their own soap company. Loomis Chaffee sophomores, Anika Ahilan and Samantha Tishler created ANSA handmade soaps (their first names combined) to raise awareness about the world's oceans and to stress the importance of washing your hands during COVID. They're producing and selling handmade, natural soaps free of synthetics, chemicals, sulfates, and detergents wrapped in seed paper that can be planted after use. All of the money from the sales of their goat's milk-based soaps goes to the Ocean Conservancy, which helps keep the oceans and wildlife healthy. We definitely weren't doing anything close to this impressive as sophomores in high school so kudos to them for taking this initiative to make a difference! NEW COMPANY HELPS PEOPLE FIND LIFE'S PURPOSE

There is an interesting new company started by some local residents that helps people find their purpose in life. Hence the name: Purpose Practiced. The program helps individuals or couples redefine their future with a deeper sense of purpose. Six local professionals, including Jessica Mand (a GHS grad), started the business to show people how to have a life with more intention (we could all use that right?!). There are multiple testimonials from participants who say the program changed their lives dramatically setting them on the path to their greatest potential and connected them to the things that truly matter in their life.
