HERE’S THE SCOOP…

**We are back after a much-needed long break and hope you all had a great holiday/new year. The SCOOP newsletter will move to every other week to ensure we are only bringing you the best and most interesting information (we hate wasting people's time!). Reach out if there is anything you are curious about in town and we will get the SCOOP! Happy 2026!

CT MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS WILL HELP YOU AVOID CRITICAL MISTAKES WHEN TAKING WEIGHT LOSS MEDS

It's not easy to jumpstart a weight loss plan. You have to be committed to making the changes needed for a healthier lifestyle. With that said, there is nothing wrong with using weight loss meds to help. However...there are A LOT of mistakes being made by people looking for a quick fix. DON'T. BE. ONE. OF. THEM. CT Medical Weight Loss & Beyond has your back. Here are some common mistakes they are noticing about people taking weight loss meds without support.

  1. It's not just a prescription medication. Taking GLP-1 meds involves dose adjustments, side-effect management, and planning for the long-term. This is not something you get from an online prescription.

  2. The medication does NOT do all the work. GLP-1s can help quiet "food noise", but they don't teach habits. You need an expert who can guide your nutrition, movements, and real-life routines.

  3. Don't skip exercise or strength training. They're key for protecting muscle, metabolism, and energy, especially when you have less of an appetite.

  4. Be aware of lifestyle factors that contribute to weight: poor sleep, high stress, and dehydration. These can sabotage progress.

  5. Have a plan to STOP the medication. Progress will last if you are educated, have a strategy and have support for the long-term.

If you are thinking about weight loss medications, do yourself a huge favor and just called Doug Dorsey at CT Medical Weight Loss & Beyond and have a conversation. We know multiple people who have had huge results and long-term success with him (see before & afters below). Visit his website HERE or call: 860.430.6317

ICYMI: BIG SCOOPS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

NEW JUICE BAR TO FORMER FOXY PIZZA SPACE

Pure Green Juice Bar is coming to the former Foxy Pizza space in the Whole Foods plaza. The franchise offers cold pressed juice, superfood smoothies, juice shots, acai and pepita bowls, steel cut oatmeal bowls, and catering. It was founded in 2014 and has grown to dozens of locations throughout the country. Stay tuned for an opening timeline.

POPULAR ITALIAN RESTAURANT COMING TO BERTUCCI'S SPACE

The owners of Sicily Wood-Fired Pizza in Middletown are opening a second restaurant, called The Sicilian Oven in the former Bertucci's space in the Griswold Mall. They are a family-owned restaurant with great pizza, Italian food, steaks, and a fun, rockin' bar scene. We will let you know about their plan for opening.

VICTUS COFFEE TO OPEN VERY SOON INSIDE SQUARE PEG PIZZERIA

Victus Coffee is opening a second location inside Square Peg Pizzeria on Hebron Avenue. They currently have a spot on Main Street in downtown Hartford. Inside Square Peg, they will be in the front room near the patio. They will have independent hours, cafe seating, and use of the DRIVE-THRU window behind the building (YAYYY!). So excited for this! And...on another note about Square Peg...they have completed their event room inside the former Berkins Blend space. Contact them for info!

GALLERY PROJECT MOVING FORWARD

We are still getting A LOT of questions about whether the two restaurants slated to open in the old Gallery are still opening and the answer is...YES. The owners of the building sold it to the owners of the restaurants, so it was taking a long time before the deal closed (or long in our eyes at least...we have no patience for these things!) Market Hospitality is still expected to bring Marketplace Kitchen & Bar and Mercato Italian Kitchen & Bar to the space. See the rendering below and stay tuned for opening info as we continue to check in with them.

COLONY GRILL ONE STEP CLOSER TO APPROVAL

Colony Grill recently passed another step in the approval process for their expected new location in the Shops at Somerset Square. The town's Architectural & Site Design Review Committee recently approved the proposal. It's fairly similar to what is there now with the addition of a patio in the back. Below is a rendering of the interior layout. The plan is still making its way through all of the steps for full approval so stay tuned...could be a little while. BUT...cannot wait to try them...we have never been.
