ORGANIZATION MEETS WELLNESS WITH REFRESH
Alicia Soares, owner of Refresh: The Organizing Company, brings a unique blend of education, a human-centered philosophy, and wellness to the world of professional organizing. A lifelong Connecticut resident, Alicia’s work is grounded in her 25-year background in education, literacy, and learning science. After decades supporting children, adults, and families through complexity and transition, she recognized that organization is far more than tidying...it’s emotional wellness, clarity, and sustainable change. Refresh offers customized organizing for homes, businesses, digital spaces, moves, and life transitions, all delivered with compassionate, judgment-free support. It's a unique approach to organization: Alicia integrates principles of nervous system regulation, habit formation, and intuitive design to create systems that truly work for each client. The business name came to her after a 5-hour drive to Lake Tahoe when she stepped out of her car, took a deep breath of pine-scented air and said "Wow...I needed a refresh." The end result of what she does NEVER. GETS. OLD....watching clients exhale and feel renewed is something that she cares deeply about. Currently pursuing a Lifestyle Wellness Coaching certificate through Harvard Medical School and honored with the distinguished 2025 ANGI Super Service Award (she will be featured in Prestige Living Magazine this year), Alicia continues to elevate her practice. Her mission remains simple: transform spaces to help people breathe easier, think clearer, and feel renewed. We are also LOVE-ing that she works closely with the team at the Institute of Living Anxiety Disorders Center to collaborate and ensure clients have access to psychological support services necessary during complex or emotionally charged transitions. WELL KNOWN DANCE STUDIO TAKING OVER HOUSE ON NEW LONDON TURNPIKE
There is a proposal going through the town approval process to turn the long-vacant house at 313 New London Turnpike (next to One Stop Plaza). Mulcahy Dance Studio is looking to revamp this old house into something fresh and new. Their current location is at 160 Oak Street in town. Sounds like they are on the move...so exciting for them!
MULRYAN'S EXPANDING TO HOUSE NEXT DOOR
Mulryan's Funeral Home is looking to expand into the house next door. They are also currently going through the town approval process to change the house from office to funeral home with a plan to connect it to their existing space.
