HERE’S THE SCOOP…
NEW PIZZA RESTAURANT TO OLD HARRY'S SPACE
Slice Works Pizza is coming to the vacant Harry's space on New London Turnpike. We know...we know...everyone is sick of hearing about new pizza places, but honestly, we love it! What's more fun than trying new pizza? These are the same people who own Illiano's in Meriden and Middletown. They also started a Slice Works in Colorado ten years ago and now have four locations out there. This will be their first Slice Works on the East Coast.
RIVER BEND BOOKSHOP EXPANDING TO WEST HARTFORD
One of our local favorites, River Bend Bookshop is opening a second location in West Hartford this fall! We remember, not so long ago, when Meghan Hayden took a leap of faith and followed her dream of opening her own bookstore. We could not be more excited for her expansion! Her new shop will be at 161 Park Road. It's next to Taqueria La Grande and across the street from OGGI Hair Salon. They are planning to OPEN November 26th (Small Business Saturday!).
TRADING SPACES BUILDING SELLS TO NEW OWNERS
A building at 2800 Main Street at the corner of Spring Street recently sold for $1 million. It's an ideal spot and could be zoned for a restaurant or something fun! According to the Hartford Business Journal, the owners (a father and son team out of Westbrook, Ron and Sam Lyman) also purchased two smaller properties next to the building. An article in the HBJ says that multiple national restaurants have shown interest in the location, but it could also be renovated for medical use (PLEASE NO!). Here's to hoping for something buzz worthy...Stay tuned!
DO GOOD SCOOP...
SUPPORT SANDY CASSANELLI AND HER FIGHT TO FIND A CURE!
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, we would like to highlight one of our local faves: Sandy Cassanelli of Breast Friends Fund. To date, Sandy has raised a total of $869K toward research for a cure! Every dollar raised through Breast Friends Fund goes to research with Dr. Eric Winer who is now at Yale's Smilow Cancer Hospital. Sandy is a local mom of two who was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer back in 2015. Most recently, she has been through multiple rounds of failed treatments. Now, more than ever, is the time to help her raise money for a cure. Below is a list of some of the local events Sandy is holding for Breast Friends Fund.
