HERE’S THE SCOOP…
PEOPLESBANK IS NOW OPEN AND OFFERING NEW CLIENT PROMOTIONS
If you're looking for a bank that cares about both their clients and the communities they serve, PeoplesBank is NOW OPEN at 2815 Main Street. As part of their opening promotion, they have an introductory offer of $350 (STARTS WEDNESDAY) when you open a new checking account and qualify. As a mutual bank, they're owned by their depositors, not shareholders, which means their profits are reinvested directly into the local community and state-of-the-art technology to make banking seamless and easy. Last year, the bank donated more than $1.6 million to non-profit organizations in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Right now, if you sign on as a customer, some of the benefits include: 1. Access to 55,000+ surcharge-free ATMs nationwide 2. 7-day-a-week banking through their innovative VideoBanker ITMS (we experienced this service and it's AWESOME!) 3. Modern products and services tailored for today's customers 4. Personalized support for individuals, families, and businesses (big and small!) AND...a total BONUS in our eyes...the bank is now the official naming partner of the PeoplesBank Arena in downtown Hartford - where the Hartford Wolf Pack and the UConn Men's and Women's Basketball teams play. We love that they truly make the banking experience SIMPLE in a world of busyness and tight schedules. To learn more, click HERE.
ONE OF GLASTONBURY'S FAVORITE NIGHTS OUT IS ALMOST HERE
The Glastonbury Education Foundation’s Annual Gala returns on Friday, November 14th at the beautiful Saint Clements Castle in Portland, CT — and it promises to be a night to remember. From classroom innovations to lifelong learning opportunities, your support truly makes a difference. So grab your friends, get dressed up, and join us for an evening of great company, great food, and a great cause. WENDY CUSANO IS ROOTED IN RESILIENCE
Born and raised in Glastonbury, Wendy has always cherished the sense of connection that comes from small-town community. Four years ago, after a stage four cancer diagnosis, she and her husband moved to a cozy lakeside home in Marlborough — a place where the water and nature became vital to her healing. After more than twenty years as a hairstylist and salon owner, Wendy’s diagnosis shifted her perspective. Determined to follow her heart, she became a certified yoga instructor, completing her training on the black sand beaches of Panama. When the space next to her and her husband’s business, Against the Grain Fitness, opened up, she knew it was meant to be — Rooted Rebel Yoga was born. Here space has a vibe unlike anything we have seen...calming, spiritual, and homey all at once. Though she once “hated yoga,” Wendy now calls it her lifeline. When she could no longer do high-intensity workouts, yoga offered her a path back to movement, self-compassion, and peace. She learned to honor a body changed by illness and to find gratitude in simply being. In her classes, Wendy encourages students to “get in your bodies — you can’t get out of them.” Her teaching is heartfelt, grounding, and real — a reminder that healing begins with presence. She offers a number of amazing classes. Click HERE to choose what suits you.
GLASTONBURY'S PLANS FOR NATION'S 250TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
The town is gearing up for America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, marking the semiquincentennial of the Declaration of Independence. The Parks & Recreation Department is leading a collaborative effort with a working group that includes town staff from various departments, The Glastonbury Historical Society, CT River Valley Chamber of Commerce, and other local organizations. They’ve created a plan that aligns with the America 250 CT Commission’s four themes, focusing on programming, signature events, community engagement, fundraising, and a campaign logo. For residents interested in learning about the plan, there is a dedicated website that will provide campaign details, with updates on events and involvement opportunities as they’re confirmed. Click HERE to review. You can sign up for updates via the Town’s eNotification system HERE. Select the “America 250” category under both Calendar and News. If you're a local organization interested in joining the planning effort, you can contact Lisa Zerios at 860.652.7687 or email: lisa.zerio@glastonbury-ct.gov.
