A NEW ROOF NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD...PLUS, WE HAVE YOUR SUMMER PLANNED FOR YOU!

HERE’S THE SCOOP…

HOW TO KNOW IF YOU NEED A NEW ROOF (Courtesy of Millstream Construction)

Home improvement projects have been in full swing over the last year, but if you've been putting off a roof replacement, now is the time! Our friends and experts and Millstream Construction are offering advice on how to know if you need a new roof.

1. Missing or damaged shingles. 2. Signs of black streaking, moss, lichen, or algae growing on your roof (this means the lamination has worn off and the organic components of your shingles are exposed). A clever way to tell if this is becoming a problem is to make sure the temperature in your attic is close to the temperature outside or if there are black rings around the nails (who knew?!). This is a SIGN OF MOLD and you should have it checked immediately to prevent further damage. The cost of a new roof might seem daunting, but if you choose the right materials and roofing contractor, a new roof will last longer and give you peace of mind. Here's what to look for in a qualified roofing contractor: A valid license and insurance, offers warranties, pulls necessary permits, installs your roof up to Connecticut code standards, inspects thoroughly before and after installation, checks the attic ventilation, and explains proper ventilation to you. If you think you need a roof, Millstream has impressive Google reviews! Find them HERE or call to schedule a FREE estimate 860.579.1939.

ZINNEKEN'S NOW OPEN!

We have been waiting for this since...well, pre-pandemic! The timing for the new Glastonbury location of Zinneken's owners, Edward and Elizabeth Angelilo, could not have been worse, but they persevered and OPENED their doors this past weekend! We are slightly obsessed with the decor in this new Belgian waffle eatery...it's GORG! This couple went after their dream...big time. They were in Boston and saw the popularity of Zinneken's when they visited the food truck in Harvard Square. Elizabeth (a self-taught baker) took a menu home and pinned it on the fridge. Everyday she looked at it and knew she would open her own location one day. That day is here! They offer two types of Belgian waffles along with a variety of yummy toppings, plus some delicious coffee drinks. We love their tag line: Let's Get Liege! (Let's Get Waffles). See the menu HERE or the new interior below.

NEW BIZ ALERT: LIGHT UP CONCEPT OFFERS COZY EVERYTHING

Eloanna Didden came to the U.S. as an au pair in 2018. She simply wanted to improve her English so she could return home to Brazil and continue her career as a lawyer. But...she fell in love. After getting married, she realized she was in a foreign country, with no job away from her family. Elo was soon struggling with some personal issues, but had an AH-HA moment while out shopping for a new throw blanket. Memories of knitting with her Grandma came flooding back. That's when she decided to start her own business now called Light Up Concept. She knits custom blankets and pillows and man oh man, do they look cozy! Follow her on Insta to see her latest creations or check out her website HERE to order.
