EMILY DAIGLE'S MISSION TO HELP SPECIAL NEEDS FAMILIES ...PLUS, THE LATEST ABOUT STRAND SALON'S BIG MOVE

HERE’S THE SCOOP…

'EMPOWERED' TO HELP SPECIAL NEEDS PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS THRIVE

Emily Daigle had been working as a special education administrator for more than two decades and understood some of the challenges of parents who had children with special needs. But it wasn't until she became a mom through adoption to her two boys that she realized how critical it is to have a CIRCLE OF SUPPORT...something she found within her mom group. In talking with some of the special needs families she worked with every day, it was clear that there was a major lack of critical support and care for this group of parents and caregivers. She studied this deeply in her doctoral research and through her professional experiences learned that parents and caregivers

of children with special needs are more likely to: 1. Struggle to find support in their community. 2. May often live in survival mode. 3. Have little time left for self-care. That is how Empowered came to be. The non-profit offers retreats and workshops that blend self-care, parenting skills, and community, along with a little adventure and a lot of fun. Emily has found through her own work that when caregivers prioritize their well-being, they create a positive feedback loop that EMPOWERS them to model, teach, and instill healthy habits in the children they nurture. Their services are 100% accessible to all. Their nonprofit Empowered Inc., allows the team to offer a

sliding scale along with scholarships for those in need. The official launch happens this month! Stop by their booth at Applefest October 17th to 19th, then grab a seat at the farm-to-table fundraiser dinner on October 25th HERE.

STRAND SALON IS MOVING TO A NEW LOCATION

Strand Salon is moving to the old Trading Spaces building at 2800 Main Street next to Dairy Queen. We reported this on social awhile back after they were revealed as the main tenant during a public hearing. They have now posted that it's OFFICIAL. The building will undergo a complete renovation and is expected to include a bakery, nail salon, and office space. They are planning to be in the new space by March 2026.

DO GOOD SCOOP...

WE ALL MISS SANDY, BUT HER LEGACY LIVES ON

It's a new era for Breast Friends Fund after the passing of its Founder, Sandy Cassanelli. Her husband, Craig, and friends, Chrissy Monaco and Stephanie Tishler have stepped in to continue the FIGHT FOR A CURE. Even though things are different without their fierce and determined leader, Breast Friends Fund continues. This October, they have a roster of events to raise money for a cure. Remember that ALL of the money raised goes toward research to FIND. A. CURE. There are some amazing events to support and we hope you will find at least one that fits your schedule. HERE is the list. OR, if you are a busy bee, a donation (click HERE) is always welcome.
