ICYMI: NEW RESTAURANT TO OLD MAX AMORE SPACE...PLUS, REGISTER NOW FOR WINTER SOCCER CAMPS

HERE’S THE SCOOP…

THE PLACE 2 BE OWNERS TAKE OVER OLD MAX AMORE SPACE

We recently learned that the owners of The Place 2 Be plan to transform the former Max Amore space in The Shops at Somerset Square into a Mediterranean-style restaurant. The Place 2 Be has six locations including Hartford, West Hartford, New Haven, Springfield, MA and Dallas, TX. We don't have any opening date details yet, but we know they are doing renovations. Stay tuned!

SIGN UP NOW FOR WINTER SOCCER CAMPS

Registration is NOW OPEN for winter soccer camps! The program is open to all rec and travel players within Hartwell Soccer. Kids will be split into groups based on age and/or gender. They will focus on touches on the ball and high energy activities to keep the kiddos engaged and moving (TIRE. THEM. OUT!). It's $225 per player. Click HERE to register.

Hartwell Soccer is also involved in the Race to Fill the Pantry...a CRITICAL need right now. The Glastonbury Food Pantry is currently serving 200 clients and often finds that they don't have sufficient supplies to meet their needs. The race is sponsored by CT Trial Firm and will take place November 12th at 7:00 AM at Riverfront. You can choose between a 2 mile or 5K race. Both the Hartwell rec and travel teams are invited to run and will have the chance to win pizza from Giovannis if they win! To register, click HERE.

Thriving in Autism will feature renowned speakers from around the world and offer proven holistic strategies to reduce meltdowns and anxiety, create emotional regulation, increase speech and communication, and unlock limitless potential. NEW DOCUMENTARY FEATURES THOSE IMPACTED BY THE DRUG ABUSE CRISIS

We recently had the opportunity to attend the presentation of a new documentary about drug abuse among young people. The documentary came together through a collaboration between Youth & Family Services and The Glastonbury Youth Advisory Council. It's a heartbreaking and inspiring look at how the Carbone family of Glastonbury has been forever changed by the death of their son, Andrew. You will also hear from a young person in recovery who is thriving. It's something every parent must see. Click HERE to watch.

ODDS & ENDS...

*Local photographer, Kevin Savage, will have his gorgeous photographs on display at an exhibit at the Welles-Turner Memorial Library starting this Wednesday, November 1st through January 9th. There will be an artist reception November 8th at 6:30 PM.

*The Glastonbury Food Pantry is in need of donations for the 200 families currently struggling. The pantry is now offering a self-serve model where clients can choose what they need/want versus getting a bag of groceries. Although they've had a lot of support from the community, they are not always sufficiently stocked to meet the needs. Please consider a donation heading into the holiday season! Donations can be dropped off at the Riverfront Community Center.

*We hear there is a new fast-casual burger place coming to the former Be Good space in The Shops at Somerset Square. We are working to get the name so STAY TUNED!

*Arhaus at Westfarms is NOW OPEN! The high-end furniture retailer completed renovations to their space and opened last week. We popped in for a look. It's GORG and unique and all the things you want it to be.
