'Tis the season for partayys and we think you should elevate your celebrations this year. Glastonbury mom, Christelle Abboud from Picnics & Balloons has a knack for leveling up spaces with some perfect party decor. It all started in 2021 when she was decorating for her own daughter's birthday party and realized she could make it a business and have more flexibility to be home with her two small kids (the dream!). She offers full-service décor with backdrop rentals, custom vinyl decals, and marquee letters/numbers. It's a family affair...she can customize any event prop requested ahead of time because her husband builds the wooden backdrops. If you're simply looking for balloon bouquets or garland, she also offers local pickup from her location at 2389 Main Street Glastonbury. Christelle and her husband have only been in town three years but have grown to love all the local coffee shops, parks, and wineries. The commercial building next to Patty Cake's recently went up for sale. 225-229 Hebron Avenue currently houses TAPAS and an empty space. That space was previously a smoke shop and convenience store. UPDATE ON NEW RESTAURANT TO OLD MAX AMORE SPACE
We are getting a lot of questions about whether or not PITA is still coming to The Shops at Somerset Square. This is the Mediterranean-style restaurant that is set to open in the old Max Amore space by the owners of The Place 2 Be. Here is what we know so far: The Statement Group says they submitted plans to the town for a buildout back in the fall. And, Somerset management has issued the following statement to us: "The Shops at Somerset Square is eagerly awaiting the arrival of PITA to join the property and its successful retail, restaurant and office tenants; opening in the coming months." We will keep you posted if we hear more.
