MEET CHRIS FROM STATEFARM...HE PROTECTS YOUR THINGS
We have only met Chris Schoelen one time in person, but we loved him immediately. His passion for helping others and being part of this community shines through when he talks about why he decided to open his StateFarm office. It's in the plaza near Lottie's on New London Turnpike. Chris is originally from Maryland where he grew up with a father who was a small business owner. Chris now lives locally with his wife who is expecting their first baby this June. The two love to hike and travel...one of their favorite spots is Costa Rica where they spent two weeks on their honeymoon. His background includes a stint as an Area Manager for Enterprise Holdings. He later started with StateFarm and has been with them for four years. The Glastonbury office opened in May of 2019 and Chris has since built a great team to help service his clients! MELZEN'S FOR SALE
We recently learned that Melzen's Farm Supply is up for sale. This family run business has been a mainstay in town for 100 years! Yes...100! We stopped in to see them and they said they are hoping for a buyer instead of the alternative...Anyone? Anyone? We don't know exact details but call or stop in if you're interested.
SALLY'S AND CAVA TO WEST HARTFORD
WeHa.com is reporting that Sally's Apizza is coming to the former Jared's Jewelry space near Trader Joe's in West Hartford. It will share the space with CAVA, a Mediterranean restaurant with multiple locations across the country including one in Greenwich, CT. Sally's Apizza has locations in New Haven and Stamford and is pretty much famous across the country for having some of the best pizza out there. Was rated #1 by Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports...so there's that! We are pretty pumped about both of these restaurants and can't wait to visit. Stay tuned for an opening timeline.
GROCERY STORE SECURED FOR 400 HEBRON
We recently learned through the Glastonbury Town Plan & Zoning meeting minutes that a specialty grocery store has been secured for 400 Hebron Avenue. This is the space next to Hartford Baking Company. The owners are currently trying to move the location of the delivery area for the building. We have heard rumors (through multiple sources) that this could be a Trader Joe's, but we have NOT BEEN ABLE TO CONFIRM this through the proper channels. These deals often fall through for various reasons, so we will just have to wait and see, right?! In the meantime, fingers crossed!
