NEW STEPS DANCE & FITNESS CENTER 40 YEARS STRONG...PLUS, SOMERSET SQUARE UPDATES

HERE’S THE SCOOP…

NEW STEPS DANCE STUDIO STILL THRIVING 40 YEARS LATER

You all know that nothing gets us quite like a Glastonbury-born and raised, from-the- ground-up-story. Well, this one is a goodie! Janelle Bradway has owned and operated New Steps Dance & Fitness Center for the last 8 years, but she has been an integral part of the business all along beginning at just 5 years old. That's when her mom signed her up for dance lessons. Through the years, New Steps was her go-to where she could be herself and feel happy. Fast forward to today and Janelle is now the owner and director of this decades old studio where she essentially grew up. (WHAT. A. DREAM.) She took over the biz from sisters Tammy and Tracy (see the old school sign below!) and they have since been her mentors and guides. Janelle is grateful for them, her family, and her dedicated team who help make it all happen day in and day out...mindful that they are all a big part of her success. And, she is not only a business owner, but a local parent, married to her high school sweatheart, Dustin (GHS '04). They live in town with their two boys and love anything football, golf, or Gbury. We are loving the vibe of New Steps...no 'dance moms' BS...but rather a non-competitive studio that is sweet and fun and filled with lots of love. The instructors were kind and careful with the littles and attentive during their own classes. They offer ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, and pointe for ages 2 to Adult, fitness classes, and a class for kids with special needs called Sunshine Stars (LOVE). RIVERFRONT PAVILION AND IMPROVEMENTS APPROVED

The TPZ approved a proposal to install a new pavilion near the pickleball courts behind the Riverfront Community Center. The project includes drainage improvements, paved sidewalks to the pickleball courts and parking area, and parking lot improvements. Lights will also be installed on the pickleball courts. The pavilion will be located between the courts and the ice-skating rink. See below for a rendering and location reference.

TOWN FOOD PANTRY IN NEED OF DONATIONS

We are putting out a call for help for the town's food pantry. They saw a surge in donations over the holidays but have recently seen an increased need. If you have the time and the means, please consider donating non-perishable food items (CHECK THE EXPIRATION PLEASE!!!!!). There are many more local families in need this year. You can drop off to their location in the back of the Riverfront Community Center during regular hours.
