Glastonbury Eye Care is NOW OPEN next to Daybreak! Dr. Lauren Colite of West Hartford and Dr. John Nedelcu of Glastonbury are the owners of this new optometry practice in town. They also own West End Eye Care in the west end of Hartford. Optometry is part of Dr. Lauren's DNA. She comes from a long line of optometrists, including her dad and sister. Dr. John is raising his family here in town and is excited to be part of the local business community. Their Glastonbury location has been through a complete reno and is now looking uber modern and fun. Some of their offerings include: comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, and specialty testing using high-tech eye care equipment. Plus, a collection of on-trend, brand-name eyeglass frames. DISTEFANO FAMILY EXPANDS DENTAL PRACTICE
It's an impressive feat! DiStefano Family Dentistry recently added their 4th dentist to the practice, marking a milestone for father-son team, Dr. John and Dr. Nick DiStefano. Dr. John started the practice more than 30 years ago, building it from the ground up before adding his son, Dr. Nick, to the team. The two are a gregarious pair with a passion for dentistry and helping people. That energy has translated into a lot of growth for this high-tech practice. Recently, they added their fourth dentist, Dr. Mike Fazzone. Dr. Mike graduated from Columbia University and completed his residency at the University of Utah with a focus on comprehensive dental care. LOCAL FAMILIES TELL STORIES IN DRUG DOCUMENTARY
The Glastonbury Youth Advisory Council will present a chilling documentary, "Glastonbury Breaking Silence" about the opioid epidemic and how it's impacted local families. The viewing will be October 28th at 11:00 AM at Riverfront Community Center. The documentary features heartbreaking and inspiring stories from families who have been directly impacted by this growing public health crisis. *We hear that the owners of a restaurant potentially going into the old Gallery on New London Turnpike will go before the Architectual & Site Design Review Committee in the next couple of months. *There is a proposal for a giant townhouse development near Feldspar Ridge off New London Turnpike. The development, named Elf Way (ELF stands for the initials of the developer's daughter), would include 174 townhomes, plus amenities. The council didn't vote on a request for a zone change so this won't happen anytime soon, but just keeping our eye on it.
