The interior designer has been helping homeowners create dream spaces for the better part of 30 years. It all started when she owned an historic home near the shore and decided to redecorate. Fast forward to today and hundreds of clients later, Sharon is beloved for her ability to level-up rooms in an understated way. LOCAL AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR TO LAUNCH WRITING WORKSHOPS
Is 2024 the year you will write a book? Maybe it's something that has been swirling around in the back or your head (or gut), but you're not sure how to start. Or maybe you did start, but are stuck...or lack the confidence to keep going. Whatever it is...we are here to introduce you to someone who can help. Susanne Davis (a Glastonbury resident) is an award-winning author and wordsmith, putting her talents to use most of her life starting when she was just a kid. She would leave her writings on the kitchen table at night for her dad to read and give feedback the next day (cue the waterworks). Many careers, roles, and moons later, Susanne wrote her first book in 2017, The Appointed Hour... a collection of short stories. Her second novel, Gravity Hill, was published last year. It's based on the real Gravity Hill in eastern CT where Susanne grew up as the daughter of a sixth generation dairy farmer. The farm still exists. Her book has gotten rave reviews and received multiple awards. Through the years, Susanne has coached many other writers through her studio, Words on Fire (named for the idea that written words illuminate the depth of humanity - we can't get enough!). Lucky for you, she is about to launch an interactive Writer's Workshop. The 30-day course will give you a clear roadmap of your project and the tools to FOLLOW THROUGH. From Week 1 of identifying your story to Week 4 of sharing finished work, this month-long course will help you move forward from where you are. The workshop runs from January 22nd to February 18th. REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR GLASTONBURY LACROSSE
Have a kid who has tried ALL the sports, but hasn't found their niche? We have one of those...but when we signed him up for lax, something clicked. Did you know lacrosse starts in Kindergarten? Glastonbury Lacrosse Club offers teams for K-8th boys and girls and IT. IS. FUN...not only fun to play, but fun to watch! And...we must say... they have an incredibly motivating and positive coaching staff that keeps kids engaged and excited. Our favorite is the annual day-long tournament featuring all things lacrosse. TWO NEW RESTAURANTS POTENTIALLY COMING TO GALLERY SPACE
We just love when something comes along that is new and exciting and good for the town...and this is one of those things. There are plans in the works for two new restaurants at the old Gallery space on New London Turnpike. Market Hospitality Group owns multiple restaurants across the state with different concepts. They are Mercado Italian Kitchen & Bar, Marketplace Kitchen & Bar, and Marketplace Tavern. Their Glastonbury project doesn't yet have a concept, but there will be one restaurant upstairs and one downstairs with outdoor terraces and fire features. Ummmm YES PLEASE! This rendering was done by Mark Blair of Curious Projects. Tomorrow, they go before the Architectural & Site Design Review Committee (which will likely make changes). Let's hope they see what we see...a GORG proposal to renovate a dilapitated building in the center of town! Stay tuned!
PERUVIAN RESTAURANT COMING TO GLASTONBURY
A peruvian restaurant from East Hartford is relocating to Glastonbury! TOBY's Peruvican Cuisine is taking over the former thrift store space in the plaza near ShopRite on the town line. When we posted this on social media, there were rave reviews for them! Can't wait to try!
