MEET THE NEW OWNERS OF THE SILVER DAHLIA
It's been nearly a year since new owners took over The Silver Dahlia and they have been rockin' it ever since! Ashley Giuliani and Deanna Frink were managers of the popular boutique for years before being offered the opportunity to buy the business from previous owner Kim Reid. Ashley has been with The Silver Dahlia for more than ten years. She knows the products and customer base inside and out and loves curating thoughtful gift collections for readers (she is a lifelong book lover!). Deanna's creative eye has brought new updates to not only the displays, but the entire shop. She has a cool background: lived on a ranch in Montana and worked for a small woman-owned cowboy boot company. Owning this shop is a dream come true for both women!
These two bad-asses met in 2017 working at The Silver Dahlia and bought the business 7 years later in June 1st, 2024. They continue to offer the brands customers love: Kendra Scott, SCOUT bags, Natural Life, Spartina, Lilly Pulitzer, and more. They love, love, LOVE connecting with customers and curating fun new products. Visit them for Mother's Day (it's THIS SUNDAY boys, girls, and MEN!), a unique teacher gift, graduate gift, or just a little something special for someone you love. You can also shop online HERE.
SOTHEBY'S OPENS OFFICE IN SOUTH GLASTONBURY
We are excited to welcome William Pitt-Sotheby's International Realty to SoG. The real estate brokerage has new office space in the lovely house across from 2 Hopewell at 931 Main Street. This is the most quaint, welcoming little spot. It's actually their second office in Greater Hartford. The first opened in Avon in 2018 and has been growing ever since. Between the two offices, they have 40 agents, including a few recognizable faces! Alex Ohlandt is the General Manager. His background in finance on Wall Street has allowed him to help the brokerage expand! This weekend, you can check out their office and meet the agents at their OPEN HOUSE. It's Saturday, May 10th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. They will have food, drinks, live music, an ice cream truck, and face painting for the kiddos! Stop in and say hi and tell them we sent you! OR, for more info and a rundown of the agents, click HERE.
THE DESIGNER SHOW HOUSE IS A SIGHT TO SEE!
Every three years, the Junior League of Hartford puts on the event of all events: The Designer Show House. This is a tradition like no other. They choose a notable home in West Hartford and select designers to makeover the interior and grounds. This year, the house at 820 Prospect Avenue is a Tudor built in 1902 for Traveler's executive, George W. Ellis. We toured the house with Glastonbury gal, Kelly Sellew, a member of the Junior League...it was such an amazing experience. The old details are truly STUN-ning and the designs of each room are so unique and fun! Some of the highlights for these lucky homeowners are a brand-new kitchen and a speak easy-style bar in the basement. The house is OPEN now through May 23rd with tours and special events. Click HERE for tickets or see a preview below.
LOBSTERFEST IS JUST ONE MONTH AWAY!
OK people...Lobsterfest 2025 is just one month away on June 7th from 4:30 to 11:00 PM and this year, we have some fun new offerings to keep you all entertained, so you won't want to miss it. This is the Glastonbury Rotary Club's signature fundraiser and they do A LOT for the town. They built the GHS Concession Stand, redid the Softball Dugouts (and plan to update them soon), funded the Addison Splash Pad, has given tens of thousands of dollars to scholarships for GHS students, donated to hundreds of local non-profit organizations in need including The ABC House, MARC, Inc, and The Olive Branch (just to name a few). Tickets to Lobsterfest are $100. Money raised goes toward projects just like this, so please consider attending or making a donation. Click HERE to purchase or donate or hit up NAPA Auto or Cofiell's Sport & Power Equipment to buy in-person. Help the Rotary help the community!
